Generation loss - the loss of quality between subsequent copies or transcodes of data. It is caused by making a copy out of a copy.
GENERATION LOST is a project that explores the imminent changes of one’s identity in an online world. Using jpeg compression and multiple recordings of an audio track, the files deteriorate over time, illustrating the changes of one’s persona in a digital space. The negatives represent the analog - real life persona, while the digital image represents the online projection.
